Help your Body cope with Wildfire Smoke

barn smoke.jpg

The West is on fire and my heart goes out to all those who have suffered loss and hardship.  What a year!  After weeks of smoke we are really feeling the negative effects in our bodies.  While we can pray for rain and miracles on the grand scale, on the small scale of our bodies we can help support health in spite of this smoke.

Personally, we are doing a mix of staying indoors, natural supplements, plenty of fluids and more.  Also, we will offer a special sale on quality natural supplements to support you through these times.  Here we go!

Drink LOTS of water.  Water flushes particulate matter through your system and helps clear your body.  Our fav is to make an electrolyte mix with a one quart jar of purified water, fresh lemon or organic “Just Lemon” (or lime) juice, 1/4 teaspoon Celtic sea salt and maple syrup (optional).  This drink will help support the kidneys, and the lemon helps the liver and gall bladder.

Drink Herbal Teas.  Slippery Elm, marshmallow root, Throat Coat, Breathe Deep tea and more.  If too warm outside to want hot tea, make it iced tea.

Aromatherapy diffuser with eucalyptus, thyme, lavender, etc.

Breathe Steam with essential oils.  Pour boiling water in a large bowl and add in a few drops of chosen essential oil (see list above) and put your head over it with a towel over your head.  Breathe carefully but deeply.

Nasal Saline spray.  Soothes irritated sinuses and the insides of your nose.

Chest Rub- I have been putting an herbal chest rub on my chest, neck and even under my nose to get the herbs/oils into my skin. It helps clear inflamed and congested throat/chest.

HEPA air purifier- lots to choose from, really help indoor air quality!

EAT: Garlic, ginger, antioxidant rich foods (blueberries, pomegranate, elderberry, blackberries, kidney beans) and vitamin C rich foods (broccoli, dark leafy greens, kiwis, tomatoes, citrus, bell peppers).
